Davius Richard is an American football quarterback for the North Carolina Central Eagles.

Early life and high school

Richard attended high school at Glades Central. In his senior season, Richard passed for 3,274 yards and 29 touchdowns.[1] Coming out of high school, Richard decided to commit to play college football for the North Carolina Central Eagles.[2]

College career

In Richard's first two seasons in 2019 and 2021, he threw for 4,130 yards and 27 touchdowns with 15 interceptions, while also adding 602 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.[3] In the 2022 Celebration Bowl, Richard totaled 272 yards and three touchdowns, as he helped beat Jackson State.[4] In the 2022 season, Richard helped lead the Eagles to become the Black college national champion.[5] Richard finished the 2022 season passing for 2,661 yards and 25 touchdowns, while also adding 15 touchdowns on the ground.[6] For his performance on the 2022 season, Richard was named the MEAC offensive player of the year.[7] During the 2023 season, Richard completed 60.8% of his pass attempts for 2,177 yards and 21 touchdowns with four interceptions. Richard also rushed for 630 yards and 18 touchdowns.[8] For his performance on the 2023 season, Richard was named the MEAC offensive player of the year, and the co-winner of the Deacon Jones Award.[9] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Richard decided to declare for the 2024 NFL draft.[10] Richard was invited to participate in the 2024 HBCU Bowl Game.[11] In the game, Richard completed both his passes for 53 yards, as well as adding a four-yard touchdown, as he was named the Bowl's offensive MVP.[12] However during the game, Richard suffered an ankle injury which cause him to miss most of the game.[13]

Richard finished his career at North Carolina Central throwing for 8,968 yards and 73 touchdowns with just 29 interceptions, while also rushing for 2,575 yards and 44 touchdowns.[14]
